CBSE Launches ‘Skill Yatra Campaign’ to Promote Skill Education Awareness
New Delhi, July 10, 2023 – The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is set to embark on an exciting new initiative called the ‘Skill Yatra Campaign,’ aimed at creating awareness about Skill Education in line with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The campaign will utilize a fully equipped mobile lab to conduct outreach activities and provide career counseling for students.
The Skill Yatra Campaign has several key objectives, including spreading awareness about Skill Education in schools, communities, and among parents, while dispelling any misconceptions about vocational education. The campaign also seeks to support the Skill India initiative of the Government of India by accelerating the adoption of skill education across the country. It aims to increase awareness about post-high school higher education opportunities, promote employment and entrepreneurship, and encourage the participation of girl students in non-conventional skills.
Furthermore, the campaign aims to create awareness about the Skill Education in Schools policy initiative of the Government of India and make it available to all stakeholders, including schools, parents, and students.
To execute the Skill Yatra Campaign effectively, a specially equipped vehicle will travel to major regional areas of the country. The vehicle will spend approximately 4-5 hours in each school, conducting skill demonstrations and training sessions. Local coordinators will be responsible for making all necessary arrangements, including advance event organization, media awareness, publicity, and inviting students from neighboring schools to attend.
The campaign also plans to invite officers and officials from the local government, as well as opinion makers from the society, to participate in the events and contribute to the cause.
CBSE invites all interested organizations that possess a mobile vehicle and wish to participate in the Skill Yatra Campaign to contact Sh. R. P. Singh, Joint Secretary (Skill Education), via email at [email protected] by July 15, 2023.
This innovative initiative by CBSE is a significant step toward promoting skill education, empowering students with relevant vocational skills, and supporting the government’s vision of creating a skilled workforce across the nation.
