Exploring Creativity and Innovation: The 1st CBSE Expression Series for the Academic Session 2024-25
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is excited to announce the launch of the 1st Expression Series for the academic session 2024-25. This year’s theme, “NEP 2020 – A Vision for Developed India,” invites students from across the nation to showcase their creativity and express their thoughts on topics inspired by the National Education Policy 2020. This initiative aims to provide a platform for students to articulate their ideas and insights through essays, paintings, and poems.
Themes and Topics by Class Categories
The Expression Series is structured into four class categories, each with specific themes and formats:
Primary (Class 3 to 5):
- Format: Paragraph (150 words) / Painting
- Topics:
- My experience at Mela/Haat in my village/town/city.
- I learn things when I play.
Middle (Class 6 to 8):
- Format: Essay (400 words) / Painting / Poem
- Topics:
- My view to make exams stress-free
- 2 lessons I learnt in my class that helped me in my daily life.
Secondary (Class 9 to 10):
- Format: Essay (700 words) / Painting / Poem
- Topics:
- A nation can develop only if all are educated.
- To save the environment, my suggestions are…
Senior Secondary (Class 11 to 12):
- Format: Essay (1000 words) / Painting / Poem
- Topics:
- Culture as the unifying force for the modern world.

Conduct of the Expression Series at the School Level
The Expression Series will be conducted at the school level from May 7, 2024, to June 30, 2024. Here’s how schools can organize and participate:
- Notification and Participation:
- Schools should inform all students about the Expression Series and encourage participation.
- Entries can be in the form of essays, paragraphs, paintings, or poems. Submissions can be in Hindi or English.
- Submission and Evaluation:
- Schools are to evaluate all entries and shortlist one entry per class category, making a total of four entries per school.
- Each entry must be accompanied by a certificate from the Head of the Institution or the Teacher in charge, confirming the originality of the work.
- Format and Guidelines:
- Participants should follow the format provided in Annexure I.
- The detailed process of submission is available in Annexure II.
Submission of Shortlisted Entries to CBSE
Schools must submit the shortlisted entries to CBSE between July 1, 2024, and July 10, 2024, using the CBSE Expression Series App available on the Google Play store. Here are the key points:
- Digital Submission:
- Schools will upload entries via an Android phone using the CBSE Expression Series App.
- Each participant will receive an online certificate of participation at their registered email ID upon successful submission.
- Selection and Recognition:
- The top 10 entries from each category will be selected by each CBSE Region, leading to the selection of winners at the National Level.
- The top three entries at the National Level will be compiled into a booklet for display on the CBSE website.
- Certificates and Awards:
- The 10 best entries at the Regional Level and the 3 best entries at the National Level will receive an online certificate of merit from the Board.
- Certificates can be downloaded from the CBSE Expression Series App.
