Introduction to Vidyanjali Program by CBSE
The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 has envisioned transformative changes across all levels of education in India through active involvement of community and private sector. In line with this vision, the Department of School Education & Literacy, Ministry of Education, Government of India, has launched the Vidyanjali initiative to strengthen schools through community, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), and private sector involvement across the country.
Vidyanjali is an online portal (https://vidyanjali.education.gov.in) that allows citizens of India, Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs), and organizations registered in India to directly connect with Government and Government-aided schools and contribute in the form of services, activities, assets, material, equipment, etc. The initiative aims to act as a facilitator by connecting contributors directly to schools and bridging the knowledge, skill, and human resources gap in schools by tapping the potential available outside the Government.
Under the Vidyanjali program, the Department of School Education & Literacy has introduced a mentor/mentee initiative, also known as twining of school. This initiative enables schools to act as mentors or mentees of other schools by contributing through hand-holding in academic and asset-related activities. The engagement of schools under this initiative can be short or long-term, and the date and timing of the activity may be agreed upon between the participating schools, as it is purely voluntary in nature.
The Vidyanjali Program’s information brochure and detailed guidelines are available at the links https://vidyanjali.education.gov.in/assets/pdf/VidyanjaliBrochure.pdf and https://vidyanjali.education.gov.in/assets/pdf/Final_Guidelines_Vidyanjali_%20December.pdf, respectively.
The Department of School Education & Literacy has requested schools to participate in the Vidyanjali program and mentor at least one or two schools in the nearby area. All stakeholders are encouraged to volunteer and contribute to the Vidyanjali program, which is a significant step towards achieving the NEP 2020’s transformative goals.
