National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA), an autonomous body under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Govt. of India, is taking steps towards instilling values of fair play and sports-ethics in young athletes. In this regard, NADA is organizing a national level awareness webinar for physical education teachers on 08.05.2023 at 11 am. The webinar will focus on anti-doping education for physical education teachers and their role in shaping the thought process of young students.
The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has prepared resource tool kits for ‘Value Education through Sport’ which are available at the following link https://www.unesco.org/en/sport-and-anti-doping/sports-values-education. Physical education teachers are requested to go through these resources and attend the webinar to understand the anti-doping program of NADA and to spread awareness of fair-play and sports-ethics.
Young athletes in schools are the future sportspersons of the nation. Therefore, it is important to instill values of fair play and sports-ethics in them at an early stage. NADA focuses on the need to inculcate positive values associated with sports and disseminate the same in classrooms. NADA’s core agenda is to spread awareness in young athletes about sports-ethics and fair-play.
Physical education teachers play a vital role in shaping the thought process of young students. Thus, it is imperative for them to understand the importance of fair-play and sports-ethics and instill the same in their students. The webinar organized by NADA is a step towards achieving this goal.
In conclusion, the national level awareness webinar for physical education teachers organized by NADA and the resource tool kits prepared by UNESCO will play a crucial role in spreading awareness about fair-play and sports-ethics among young athletes. It is important for physical education teachers to attend the webinar and go through the resources provided by UNESCO to understand their role in shaping the future sportspersons of the nation.
