CBSE Announces Second Cohort of Sustainability Accelerator for Students
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in collaboration with Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail (ABFRL) has announced the launch of the second cohort of its Sustainability Accelerator program for students. The program, which aims to foster a sustainability mindset in youth and advance skills for green jobs, is scheduled to begin on May 23, 2023.
The first cohort of the program saw an overwhelming response from students, with over 3,000 registrations. Building on this success, CBSE is calling on all CBSE-affiliated schools to nominate five students for the program by May 14, 2023, through a provided link.
The 7-day virtual program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of sustainability and equip them with the necessary skills to build solutions that address environmental issues. The program also offers an opportunity for students to get hands-on experience through projects, as well as access to mentorship from global leaders in sustainability.
Additionally, the top-performing students from the program will be offered an in-person workplace experience and internship in top corporate campuses to learn about the sustainable practices they follow.
The Sustainability Accelerator program’s mission is to encourage students to become valuable contributors to climate change/action, introduce them to the role of technology in shaping a greener planet, and empower them to pitch their innovations that lead to a sustainable planet.
The program is open to students in grades 8 and above, and it is being offered free of cost to all CBSE-affiliated schools. Further details about the program can be found in the provided annex.
The Sustainability Accelerator program is a significant step in promoting sustainability education in India and building the next generation of leaders who can drive positive change for the planet.
